Leaders in the Academy Spotlight on Richard Newton

Richard Newton is a Doctoral Fellow and the co-pastor and co-founder of The People of New Day, an emerging United Methodist congregation. A student and teacher both, he researches the Historical Jesus, the anthropological and archaeological study of the New Testament, and the phenomena of scriptures as a cultural enterprise. Richard uses his focus and training to learn and teach how to make use of academic and social contexts to facilitate reflection.

“…my passion is to invite scholars, churches and the general public into conversation about the place of the New Testament in historical and contemporary life.”
