For Gerald Liu, the process of teaching the art of worship comes out of his experience in the pulpit. He pursued ordination before taking on a role in theological academia in order to give his students a real sense of what it looks like to be a part of an ecclesiastical tradition. Gerald is intentional about his part of the conversation about theological education and the state of the mainline Protestant denominations, both as a teacher and member of the ordained clergy. He also strives to nurture gifted, dexterous, nimble leaders of worship who can preach both from the pulpit but also through more public, secular forms of liturgy.
“ If there is one motivation behind my scholarship and teaching, and my aspirations in theological education, I simply want to help people worship. ”
