Why DISCERNext?

In a rapidly changing world marked by unprecedented uncertainty, a shifting religious landscape, and evolving career paths and opportunities, discerning answers to questions about meaning and purpose is more pressing than ever. Everyone is navigating these types of questions at every stage of life, from understanding who you are, what your gifts are, how you are called to serve others with your gifts, to what to do with your life, who to do life with concerning a family, friends, and community, and caring for loved ones. Organizations, too, are increasingly focused on discerning the best way to navigate uncertainty and creating opportunities to discern how mission and purpose guide their work.

DISCERNext builds the discernment capacity of the next generation of leaders and a diverse ecosystem of Christian institutions engaged in the practice of vocational accompaniment with the next generation discerning meaning and purpose, and God’s call in their lives.

DISCERNext offers three tailored tracks for:

  • Doctoral Scholars and Leaders: Courses in vocational discernment, navigating doctoral studies, and executive leadership in theological education.
  • Ministry Leaders: Courses focused on the art and science of vocational discernment, as well as strategies for leading and practicing discernment in ministry contexts.
  • Young Adults: Courses that help participants explore their purpose, passion, and call, and discern pathways into ministry.
